NeuroParent ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of you and your family. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use the NeuroParent mobile application ("the App").
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our services:
Account Information
- Name and email address
- Password (stored in hashed form)
- Account preferences and settings
Child Profile Information
- Child's first name or nickname
- Age or date of birth
- Developmental stage and communication preferences
App Usage Data
- Meltdown logs including triggers, warning signs, and resolution notes
- Mood and feelings check-in entries
- Food sensory logs and dietary preferences
- Voice note recordings and transcriptions
- Visual schedule and timer configurations
- Token board progress and reward data
Device Information
- Device type, operating system, and app version
- Anonymous usage analytics to improve app performance
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App's features and functionality
- Generate reports and insights about your child's patterns and progress
- Power AI-assisted features such as personalised insights, suggestions, and support (see Section 3 below)
- Enable data export for sharing with therapists and healthcare providers
- Send important service updates and security notifications
- Respond to your support requests
3. AI-Powered Features and Third-Party AI Services
NeuroParent includes AI-powered features that provide personalised insights, suggestions, and support for caregivers. These features are powered by a third-party AI service. Here is how your data is handled:
What data is sent
- Child profile information (name/nickname, age, developmental stage)
- Meltdown logs (triggers, warning signs, resolution notes)
- Mood and feelings check-in entries
- Food sensory log entries
- Voice note transcriptions
- Questions or prompts you enter when using AI features
Who the data is sent to
We use OpenAI (OpenAI, L.L.C.) as our third-party AI service provider. Data is sent to OpenAI's API solely to generate AI-powered responses within the App.
How the data is protected
- All data sent to OpenAI is encrypted in transit using TLS/SSL
- We use OpenAI's API with data processing agreements that prohibit OpenAI from using your personal data to train their AI models
- OpenAI is contractually required to provide the same or equivalent level of data protection as described in this Privacy Policy
- Data sent to OpenAI is not retained by OpenAI beyond the duration needed to process your request (zero data retention policy)
Your consent and control
- The App will ask for your explicit consent before sending any personal data to AI services
- You can opt out of AI-powered features at any time in the App's settings
- Opting out does not affect your ability to use the App's core features (tracking, logging, scheduling, etc.)
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. Your family's data is never shared for advertising or marketing purposes.
We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- At your direction — when you explicitly choose to export or share reports (e.g. PDF reports for your child's therapist)
- Third-party AI services — as described in Section 3, with your explicit consent, to power AI-assisted features within the App
- Service providers — trusted third-party services that help us operate the App (e.g. cloud hosting, error monitoring), bound by strict confidentiality agreements
- Legal requirements — when required by law, regulation, or legal process
5. Data Security
We take the security of your data seriously and implement industry-standard measures to protect it, including:
- Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest (AES-256)
- Secure authentication and hashed password storage
- Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
- Access controls limiting employee access to personal data
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at support@neuroparent.app. Upon request, we will delete your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
7. Children's Privacy
NeuroParent is designed for use by parents, caregivers, and therapists. The App is not intended to be used directly by children without adult supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 16. All child-related data is entered and managed by the parent or caregiver account holder.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Deletion — request deletion of your personal data
- Export — request a portable copy of your data
- Objection — object to certain processing of your data
